A business which designs and creates edible cake toppers, has more than doubled its turnover in just two years after relocating to UKSE managed business premises in Bellshill.

My Cupcake Toppers increased its annual turnover by 117% from £58,000 to £126,000 between 2015 and 2017. This significant growth was facilitated by the relocation of the company’s operations to new, larger premises at Grovewood Business Centre, which is located at Strathclyde Business Park.

Initially founded as a home bakery in 2010, My Cupcake Toppers expanded to decorative and edible cake toppers two years later. In 2015 it took up residency in a 492 sq. ft. industrial unit at Grovewood Business Centre. Following the move, the business was able to purchase a state-of-the art hydraulic cutting machine enabling it to increase and streamline production. The acquisition of this key piece of equipment, which it was unable to store in the previous premises, marked a turning point for the business.

The company now delivers around 10,000 orders annually to clients around the world, including in the UK, Singapore, Australia and Norway. Its bespoke products are created for a range of organisations, including businesses looking for branding opportunities through unconventional channels, charities hosting fundraising events, independent cafes, private customers and businesses supplying bakery goods to UK supermarkets.

My Cupcake Toppers founder, Anna Kennedy said; “As the business grew, we required a larger space to accommodate our new equipment and Grovewood Business Centre was a perfect fit for us. Not only is it ideally located for staff traveling from Lanarkshire and Glasgow but UKSE provides a postal service through its central office. Delivering products to customers across the world is a key part of our business model and this onsite service means I no longer have to spend time queuing each day at the post office, saving at least an hour per week.”

Jackie Taylor, property administrator at UKSE, said; “It’s fantastic to see one of our tenants achieve such growth for their business. Helping businesses achieve their full potential is at the root of what we do at UKSE, and our premises are perfect for organisations just starting out or looking to expand.”
