UKSE Company Celebrates Multi-Million Pound Playboy Win

UKSE Company Celebrates Multi-Million Pound Playboy Win

An East Kilbride-based company is celebrating after securing a multi-million pound licensing contract from one of the biggest fashion brands in the world.

Premium Mobile Distribution (PMD), which is based at Colvilles Park Industrial Estate, specialises in designing, manufacturing and distributing mobile phone, iPod and laptop accessories. The company has just been awarded a two year contract from Playboy which will see PMD manufacture and distribute branded products throughout Europe.

Playboy is the latest in a long line of big name brands PMD has secured since it was established by managing director Tony Ianniello in 2006.

The company already holds the UK/Ireland licenses for Me To You, Hello Kitty and Betty Boop. After receiving funding from UK Steel Enterprise (UKSE), PMD also secured exclusive licenses from Hollywood powerhouses Warner Bros and Nickelodeon, allowing it to manufacture accessories for popular names such as SpongeBob Squarepants.

PMD sells its products in 3,500 stores nationwide including retail giant Tesco, Carphone Warehouse, O2, Claire's Accessories, JJB Sports, T Mobile and Play.com.

Anne Clyde, area manager at UKSE, said: “Despite being a relatively new business PMD has secured a number of impressive licences.

“The addition of Playboy to PMD's extensive client list is testament to the hard work Tony and his team have put into chasing and securing new business. We are also delighted that the company is now selling into Europe which has been a goal since the company launched.”

Tony Ianniello added: “The Playboy contract is a fantastic coup for the company, more so because we have a license to distribute our products throughout Europe. It has always been an ambition to expand out of the UK and we are thrilled that we are doing it with such a strong brand.

“We have secured two funding rounds from UKSE and their support has been invaluable in helping PMD get to the position it is in now. Since we received the funding we have secured supply contracts with some of the UK's biggest retailers and have been awarded licenses that are known world-wide.

“Going forward, we want to expand our product range and are confident that with brands such as Playboy on our client list we will continue to attract major names.”
