UKSE Supports New Publishing Venture

UKSE Supports New Publishing Venture

A West Wales printing firm is looking for local authors to come forward as the company makes a bold move into the UK publishing market.

Dinefwr Press of Llandybie is publishing and promoting the latest work by local writer Julian Ruck with a high profile campaign in London and Wales, hoping that An Equal Judge will be a hit with the summer paperback market. Billboards advertising the book are being taken at Paddington and other main stations, as well as in city centres in Cardiff and Swansea.

“We are hoping the major retailers will then take the book and put it on nationwide sale,” said Emyr Nicholas of Dinefwr Press.

“Julian, who is from Kidwelly, is an accomplished author with many books to his credit, and we are confident that his latest will be the platform to break into the UK market.

“We are also looking for more writers to come forward from the local community to explore whether their work is suitable. My feeling is that there are many writers out there who simply need the opportunity to be created for them to get their work published successfully.”

Described as unpredictable and shocking, An Equal Judge tells the story of a female judge battling obstacles to truth in the legal system, as well as fighting against the glass ceiling culture of the world of law.

Dinefwr Press is a long established printer in the area, and the move into new territory is backed by a marketing grant of £500 administered by Carmarthenshire County Council.

The grant is funded by Corus subsidiary UK Steel Enterprise. Glyn Thomas of UKSE added: “We are delighted to have been able to fund this expansion into a new area for Dinefwr Press and we wish them all good fortune.”

The workforce at the Press is presently 14 and the new venture is expected to result in an extra two jobs.

“This is a very exciting time for us, and we are appreciative of the support we have received to enable us to take our plans forward,” added Mr Nicholas.
